For years, community radio advocates and activists have used the Allied Media Conference as an annual point of convergence in the movement to expand community radio access in the United States. The passage of the Local Community Radio Act in 2011 creates new potential for the issuance of non-commercial low-power FM (LPFM) radio licenses all across the country for non-profits and partnering community groups.
