Igniting Action Online
18MR.org was founded in 2012 by Jee Kim and Christina Samala to leverage the power of technology and social media to help organize Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Over the past four years, true to our founding spirit, we have changed the way online organizers think about their work through a constantly evolving approach to strategy, tactics, and tools in a changing online environment. From building new tools to connect bilingual people with limited English proficient voters to bringing young organizers together from across the country at the Allied Media Conference, our work has used every tool at our disposal to empower AAPIs to show up and fight for racial, gender, and economic justice.
The role of AAPIs in the future of the United States is contested. We work to shape that role by connecting our diverse communities through art, technology, ideas, and campaigns that ignite their imaginations and open possibilities.
