Flower Press is an equitable publishing practice centering womxn, femme, queer, and trans artists and practitioners. We prioritize submissions by and resources for Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color, People of the Global Majority, Disabled, Neurodivergent, and Low-income folx.
We publish poetry, essays, monographs, divination tools, jokes, and more.
We work slowly with our collaborators into relationships built on mutual respect and trust.
We prioritize our collaborators’ agency, autonomy, and power, engaging publishing as a tool for collective liberation.
We center our collaborators’ wisdom in telling their own stories and gently foster arrival at the most fitting form.
We are committed to developing transparent, creator-focused practices and removing barriers to publishing.
Here’s what that looks like:
- Artists retain all rights to their work forever.
- We offer free-of-cost or donation-based design services.
- We offer production advances. We are working toward the ability to subsidize production.
- Artists choose their publishing split with us.
- We distribute artists’ work without cost to the artist.
Work
In the last year, Flower Press has published nine independent publications and small works. We have many more works on the horizon, ranging from topics of Indigenous food sovereignty, to the safety of Indigenous womxn and femmes, to self-care tools for Black womxn, to queer fairytale musicals.
