Diana J. Nucera discusses inclusive civic technology at Code For America Summit (SEPT 24)
Diana J. Nucera, Director of the Detroit Digital Stewards project, will be presenting at the Code For America Summit in San Francisco.
Building for Inclusive Community Participation
Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 5:05 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (700 Howard St).
Serving everyone means getting input from a true cross section of a community and ensuring that civic technology is accessible to everyone. This session discusses how government can meet the people where they are, in both online and offline channels, with language and interactions that make sense and are broadly accessible and inclusive.
- Laurenellen McCann, Civic Innovation Fellow, Open Tech Institute and founder of the Curious Citizens Project
- Diana Nucera, Director, Detroit Digital Stewards
- Denise Taylor, ResiStat Director, City of Somerville
- Moderated by Catherine Bracy, Director of Community Organizing at Code for America
- Lightning talks followed by a group discussion and Q&A
Diana will discuss the vision for a healthy digital ecosystem in Detroit, the importance of collaborative technology education, and the role of the “technologist” as a facilitator, rather than leader, in technological discovery and implementation.
The annual Summit is when the Code for America civic innovation community gathers in person for three days of collaborating, connecting, and learning. More info.
