Words by Allied Media Projects
ArtChangeUS REMAP: Detroit will convene artists and changemakers from Detroit and beyond to “explore how communities are remapping America and transforming the arts.” This event will explore themes of art, racial justice, resisting displacement, and more.
The two-day convening will take place October 6-7 at the Charles H. Wright Museum, and will include participatory art workshops, “future conversations,” a meet and greet reception, and the NALAC MI Latinx Art Summit on October 7th.
Allied Media Projects’ executive director Jeanette Lee will be speaking on a panel on October 6th at 4pm with James Kass of Youth Speaks, Paige Watkins of BYP100, Wendy Levy of NAMAC, and facilitator Garth Ross of the Kennedy Center. The panel will consider the following question: “Across America artists are working at the nexus of social change. How do these movements build scale?” The panel will take place at Grace in Action, 1725 Lawndale St.
The event will include workshops and presentations from many individuals from the Allied Media community. Go here to browse the full program and please note that all locations are at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History unless otherwise noted in the program.
The event is free but space is limited. Register here.
