Habibi House

About

Habibi House is a neighborhood-based community art space and social engagement residency in Detroit, founded by Noura Ballout in 2017 as a place of intersection and cross-community building. Habibi House is mobilizing its immediate geographical community, immigrant communities, and artists of intersectional backgrounds to reimagine home outside of traditional institutional structures through art, food, music, and conversation. In providing a safe space for communities to engage with artists and artmaking, Habibi House presents diverse groups with the opportunity to hold one another’s whole selves. Through this structure we create an environment for civic participation, intercultural connection and community building.
