About

Seraphine Collective is an inclusive, supportive and active community of feminists designed to foster creative expression and camaraderie among marginalized musicians and artists in Detroit.

A recipient of the 2016 Knight Arts Challenge, Seraphine plans to build feminist community and combat the underrepresentation of women in the Detroit electronic music scene. We provide affordable and accessible means for women-identified aspiring DJs to learn the foundations of record mixing on top-quality gear, in a supportive, low-pressure and collaborative environment.

Additionally, Seraphine Collective hosts regular concerts/performances highlighting female-identified/PoC/LGBTQ musicians and performers of various genres at a variety of local venues, in addition to producing a quarterly zine and releasing mixtapes.

Support the Seraphine Collective!

The ultimate goal of the Collective is to open a space in the city of Detroit where the diverse community of women, femmes, queer, transgender, and POC adult and youth artists, patrons, and residents can support and foster visibility of this community in a music scene dominated by patriarchal and institutionally racist cultural norms.
