As we manage more and more funds for our fiscally sponsored projects, we need to grow our accounting capacity to meet this growing need. Our accounting team works with an emphasis on collaboration, creative problem solving, and excellent service to our fiscally sponsored projects.
Role Overview
The Finance and Grants Manager is responsible for AMP’s financial planning and analysis functions. They will be the leading resource for the budget and analysis support provided to program staff and leaders of the fiscally sponsored projects.
Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Manage the accounting staff responsible for revenue recognition and financial reporting.
- Participate in the hiring process of Finance team members.
- Provide day-to-day management and evaluation of staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff.
- Facilitate work meetings.
Other:
- Design financial reporting templates and oversee the distribution of the reports across the organization, programs and projects, and funders.
- Engage and train employee users in the use of solutions, with dual goals of supporting the organization to achieve operational and financial objectives while also advancing ease and efficiency for employee users.
- Coordinate annual budget process and mid-year budget review/adjustment.
- Coordinate the workflow and best practices documentation to support the use of financial systems and comply with required policies and procedures.
- Support the Director of Finance in planning and managing projects related to systems integration and adoption, including project scoping, determination of key success indicators, project milestones, goals, and task assignments.
- Serve as primary contact for multiple project staff, providing financial analysis, management support, and guidance.
- Work with project directors to comply with the funder’s terms and conditions, manage deliverables, monitor spending, request amendments, and plan spend-out.
- Support budget creation, budget projections, and analysis of expenses as needed.
- Review salaries being charged to projects and adjust to ensure correct allocation.
- Analyze and monitor projects’ fund balances and keep everyone informed of status and issues.
- Work with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate processing of payables, deposits, and billings.
- Assist with document requests for annual audit.
Qualifications
Need to have…
- BA/BS degree in business, nonprofit financial management, or accounting preferred; five or more years of experience managing grants and nonprofit finances required.
- Budgeting experience required.
- Demonstrated skill in providing a high level of service to multiple customers, ideally in a nonprofit context, required.
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and data management systems required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pay close and accurate attention to details.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
Nice to have . . .
- Knowledge of AMP’s Network
- An understanding of fiscal sponsorship
- Experience working as part of a team delivering coordinated services is highly desirable.
- Sophisticated nonprofit fund and federal grant accounting and management are strongly preferred.
Job Details and How to Apply
This role’s salary range is $65,000K-$75,000K and includes a competitive benefits package including: employer sponsored Medical, Vision, Dental, FSA, and retirement matching. It is a full-time position, based in Detroit. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this job will operate in a remote capacity.
The ideal start date for this role is June 1st, 2022.
