Role Overview
The Payroll Manager will oversee the current payroll system and ensure that payroll data is accurately represented and integrated into the financial system.
The Payroll Manager will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll and all applicable taxes and SUI, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry. They will lead the maintenance of the HRIS system.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Reconcile monthly payroll journal entries between payroll provider, accounting system, and bank
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitate information by providing records and documentation to Accounting Manager and auditors.
- Oversee and maintain accurate PTO tracking and reporting system
- Responsible for processing and sharing internal payroll management reports
- Responsible for all payroll related questions, including but not limited to tax liabilities
- Contact various department supervisors for any missed times
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Collect payroll information and materials needed for audit
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
- Lead payroll system training and support for new team members
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Need to have…
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- 3+ years of related experience is required
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Advanced excel skills required
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and data management systems required;
- ADP workforce NOW knowledge is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job Details and How to Apply
This role’s salary range is $65,820-$74,999 and includes a competitive benefits package including: employer sponsored Medical, Vision, Dental, FSA, and retirement matching. It is a full-time position, based in Detroit. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this job will operate in a remote capacity.
The ideal start date for this role is June 1, 2022.
