Healing by Choice (HbC!) is a circle of women, gender non-conforming people of color health, and healing practitioners based in Waawiiyatanong / Detroit, MI, U.S.A. HbC! is committed to living with integrity and love. HbC! interweaves the wisdom of Mother Earth, ancestors, and traditions in healing and the journey toward wholeness. We believe that we all have the power to heal and that community can support us in healing. We work collaboratively and co-creatively with groups and communities to create spaces that are healing, regenerative, and transformational, within the group and its communities.
We offer a range of modalities online and in person that include Reiki, meditation, Tai-Chi, Peace Circles, herbal consultations, ear acupuncture, whole person and community care, body work, food as medicine, limpias, retreats, conflict resolution, tarot, and more. We center our work in Detroit, we accept invitations to offer our services from other communities that align with our vision, and we create spaces where our services can be received.
Healing justice is the practice of reimagining wholeness at the intersection of intergenerational trauma, current structures of oppression, and a generative and co-created future. We hold that joy and pleasure create possibility to be in right relationship with ourselves, each other, and the land. We strive to demystify medicine and healing, and to make them accessible to everyone. We believe that each person is an expert of their own experience, body and needs, and that it is necessary to address the roots of trauma and injustice for individual and collective transformation.
