ABOUT ALLIED MEDIA PROJECTS
AMP is an organization that nurtures and grows a network of BIPOC and majority women, trans, and non-binary people who are artists, technologists, media-makers and organizers who are fighting injustice in their communities on many fronts. We do this work via fiscal sponsorship—providing a shared infrastructure of support in the realms of finance, development and fundraising, human resources, and programmatic strategy.
This summer at AMP marks a time of becoming more deeply rooted in Detroit as we move to our new home at the LOVE Building, a hub for social justice organizing and community gathering. We’re excited to be in a space where we can dream and co-create together. Collectively, we know that we’re only at the beginning of what’s possible—gathering lessons from the past 20 years to lead us into the next 20 years of our work. To that end, we want you to join us as we turn towards the future.
MEET PROJECTS WE FISCALLY SPONSOR
Undocumented Filmmakers Collective Building upon the media justice organizing of other undocumented leaders, the Undocumented Filmmakers Collective tackles the systemic inequities that undocumented immigrants face in the field of filmmaking, by centering the expertise of undocumented people not only as sources of stories but more importantly as creators, artists, and primary audiences.
AfroFuture Youth Afrofuture Youth is a Detroit based, black, youth-led organization using Black Futurist and healing centered frameworks to co-create equitable and pleasurable futures where all aspects of black life can thrive and exist as they are.
Motor City Street Dance AcademyFounded in 2016, Motor City Street Dance Academy is dedicated to bringing hip hop culture to Southwest Detroit and mentoring youth from all around Detroit. MCSDA offers dance, art, and music classes through traditional styles of hip hop; Aerosol Art, Breakin’, Popping, Jit, DJing, beat-making, anime/comic design, and yoga. Using the elements of hip hop as a tool to empower youth with social-emotional development, professional skills, career paths, and healthy living, MCSDA works to enhance the lives of Detroiters through hip-hop, physical activity, and healthy living. Their purpose is grounded to uplift the disenfranchised communities in Detroit, much like the way the pioneers of hip-hop did decades ago. They work actively to provide a safe space for everyone to express themselves freely.
Healing by Choice Healing by Choice (HbC!) is a circle of women, gender non-conforming people of color health, and healing practitioners based in Waawiiyatanong / Detroit, MI, U.S.A. HbC! is committed to living with integrity and love. HbC! interweaves the wisdom of Mother Earth, ancestors, and traditions in healing and the journey toward wholeness. We believe that we all have the power to heal and that community can support us in healing. We work collaboratively and co-creatively with groups and communities to create spaces that are healing, regenerative, and transformational, within the group and its communities.
Our Data BodiesOur Data Bodies is a research and organizing initiative working at the intersection of justice and technology. We are concerned with data-driven systems and their connection to power and violence. We question Big Tech, surveillance, and the ways that tech power exacerbates racial, economic, and social injustice. Our work centers communities critiquing and resisting discriminatory technologies and surveillance infrastructures. We balance between creating knowledge, publishing research, co-developing and sharing tools of engagement, and supporting capacity building for groups on the ground.
Life Werq Our vision is to create a T4T network of care across Birth, Trans, and Reproductive justice and liberation that centers Indigenous and intuitive knowledge. We offer birthwork trainings for and by QTBIPOC, where we provide skills and knowledge that allows us to support our communities through birth, postpartum, bodyfeeding, abortion, fertility, reproductive health, gender-affirming surgery recovery, and HRT. *Formerly known as QTPOC Birthwerq Project.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the dress code?
You may dress up if you’d like, but specifically formal wear is not required.
How do I request accessibility needs?
When filling out our RSVP form, enter any accessibility needs in the corresponding question. If you have any questions, please contact Olivia D’Amato at development@alliedmedia.org.
What is scent free?
Being fragrance-free involves both individuals and spaces. It means making personal decisions and establishing policies to make spaces accessible for everyone. When we ask that you come to our event scent-free, we are asking to refrain from wearing any perfume or applying personal care products that contain strong fragrances—such as lotion, deodorant, and hair products. Just like providing wheelchair accessibility and interpreters, making spaces scent-free increases accessibility and supports the inclusion of many people!
Are masks required?
We ask that all attendees wear masks in the LOVE Building common areas when they are not eating or drinking. Masks are encouraged while in the AMP office, but not required. If you’re feeling ill or have recently been around someone with COVID, please stay home and rest. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Hand sanitizer will also be located throughout the LOVE Building during the celebration, including but not limited to food & beverage stations.
